Tournament Rules
The Fonseca Cup is an AAU sanctioned event. Competition is run using both AAU and WKF rule sets — each division is governed by the rules indicated on the schedule (red = AAU, blue = WKF).
AAU Rules
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Karate Program governs beginner through advanced divisions, including youth, Little Dragons, and team events.
AAU Karate HandbookWKF Rules
The World Karate Federation (WKF) rules govern advanced brown/black belt divisions, including KIAI (Para-Karate) and elite age categories.
